Piggy Bank Grenache is born in mature 20 year old vines that grow on terraced vineyards near the small town of Pezenas in the Minervois area. Soils there are stony with a mix of sand, clay and limestone beneath. The Mediterranean climate is typically hot and dry. Harvest was completed on 20th September 2011 in excellent conditions. After de-stemming and crushing of the grapes at the winery, fermentation was controlled at around 25oC and the wine is macerated on the skins for two weeks and left in contact with its fine lees in order to maximize extraction of fruit and texture. There is no oak ageing as this wine is all about the incredible fruit.

WINEMAKER: Thierry Boudinaud
We are privileged to work with Thierry, who is one of the most dynamic winemakers in southern France. He has a tremendous network of growers and access to the best grapes. His ancestors established their own domaine in 1626, so his roots are well and truly in the southern Rhône valley. Thanks to his experience of making the hugely popular Fat Bastard and La Châsse wines, he knows how to create wines especially appealing to export markets with a distinctive, balanced style - fruit orientated, complex, and elegant.
