VITICULTURE / VINIFICATION

The vineyards are located on clay and limestone soils in Rioja Alta with an average age of 25 years for the vines. Harvest took place in October following a warmer summer than the previous vintage which helped maturity. Grapes
were picked when conditions were dry and temperatures steady. Then careful selection took place to ensure the best possible juice. Fermentation was in stainless steel tanks with the temperature regulated at 26o C. This wine is aged
for 4 months in American oak and 4 months in French oak.

PRESS
88 Points (2008 vintage) - Wine Advocate, Issue # 189, June 2010
“Gran Familia offers up a fragrant nose of cedar, leather, spice box and blackberry. This is followed by a mediumbodied wine with plenty of savory fruit, a forward personality, and enough structure and balance to drink well over the next 5 years. It is an excellent value."
