Region, D.O.: Aragón, D.O. Calatayud

WINEMAKER’S NOTES:
2007 is the first vintage of this fine expression of 100% Garnacha from slate soils and offers a grea example of a specic terroir based wine delimited by high altidude and very individual soils.

I believe that 2007 will be reflected on as one of the classic vintages of the last few decades in continental Spain – the growing season was long and balanced without any spikes in heat and where rainfall was minimal leading to perfect conditions.

Calatayud offers one of the most unique areas in Spain and is set to follow areas like the Priorat due to its unique continental climate and ancient vines which produce wines of great intensity.

EL PUÑO:
Is the latest release by the ‘Flying Scotsman’ and takes inspiration from the raw power of Calatayud climate and the winemakers challenge to tame it. Each release will aim to use the best grapes available to us depending on the harvest conditions.

Norrel Robertson MW has spent the last six years searching out indivdual blocks of fruit to work with to produce this wine of massive intensity.

“Garnacha from Calatayud thoroughly rocked (literally) my world today. So much ness e,elegance. Possibly the greatest Grenache that no one (hardly anyone) has ever tasted” Randall Grahm, International Grenache Symposium 2010
